" This workshop will be conducted by two young adults with high functioning autism. Dave and Lindsey will discuss what it is like growing up with autism, with a special emphasis on relationships and employment issues. Included will be in-depth discussions on obsessions, schooling, college life, sensory violations and transitions. Participants will learn about autism from a first-person perspective and be able to discuss this information with their colleagues or family. "


Learning Objectives

* To educate participants about dating strategies and how to make romantic relationships work for people with autism and related disorders.
* To discuss employment related issues for people with autism and related disorders and how to increase job prospects.
* To define what special interests are and why they are significant.
* To bring greater awareness of what it is like living with autism and discuss some of the best practices used in childhood and beyond.
